My name is Marco, I am 28 years old and I work as a Certified Aircraft Engineer at the Line Maintenance of SWISS here in Zurich. My daily job is basically, to keep our SWISS aircraft fleet in a good shape and safe to fly! As you can imagine, working as a Certified Aircraft engineer is not a ordinary 9-to-5 job.
I started my aviation career in 2007 at SR Technics in the engine overhaul shop. After a while, I wanted to work closer to the big birds. So I took advantage of a chance to join the Line Maintenance at SR Technics. After e few years at SRT, I was lucky and had the chance to change over to Swiss Line Maintenance in 2012. For those who do not know what Line Maintenance means, here is a short explanation for you: Our workplace is outside, right at the gates. No matter what the weather conditions are, we have to be outside and take care of the machines. We are responsible for the airworthiness of our fleet. Sometimes there are only small things to fix in the cabin and on other days, we are busy taking care of bigger and more difficult issues.
