Dear @flyswiss followers,

A warm welcome to November, and in this case specifically to “SWISS Technics”!

Almost tirelessly, SWISS aircraft head to far-off destinations all over the world before then returning to Zurich at the end of their trip. And this is the moment when an aircraft engineer’s work begins.

My name is David Peltzer, I’m 24 years old, and I’m an aircraft engineer at SWISS Technics. Even as a small child, I was always looking up at the sky and watching the aircraft, and at an early age I developed a passion for aviation and the technology behind it. I was lucky enough to be able to start training as an aircraft mechanic in 2010, and immerse myself professionally in this fascinating work.

My colleagues and I are responsible for the maintenance of entire SWISS and Edelweiss Air fleet and ensuring that we keep all our aircraft on top form. At our “Hangar Maintenance”, we carry out what are known as “A checks” every day. An aircraft is brought in to us in the hangar for 24 hours, and we check it thoroughly and carry out an extensive range of tasks on it. However, changing the engines is another of our jobs. My place of work is in Werft 3 – the main “home” of our long-haul aircraft, and Werft 2 – the nest of our short-haul fleet.

I am delighted to be taking you along with me on a tour of our maintenance in November, and to showing you a little more about the often hidden hangar world!

David
