Dear @flyswiss followers,
My name is Andi and I have the great honour to be your Instagramer of the month in September. For the next 30 days, you can look forward to exciting moments filled with technical insights.
I am a team leader within IFE Maintenance – a part of SWISS’s Line Maintenance in Zurich. We are responsible for SWISS’s inflight entertainment system, which can be found on all our long-haul aircraft (Airbus A330, Airbus A340 and Boeing 777). We maintain each piece of the inflight entertainment system. Our job entails replacing inseat screens, handsets, audio jacks and the power outlet in SWISS First and SWISS Business, as well as the USB charging outlets in SWISS Economy. As a team leader and acting deputy for our lead engineer, my responsibilities include creating the roster, joining meetings with the engineers, and troubleshooting in general. In addition, I am the interface between our line maintenance engineers and our maintenance control division. Our line office is located in Terminal B, where we meet every morning or afternoon (depending on the shift). We work in six-day shifts, followed by four days off. Four engineers are on duty on day shifts, while two engineers make sure everything goes as planned during the late shift. Altogether, our team consists of nine IFE engineers, one team leader and one lead engineer.
I grew up in Elsau, a small village close to Winterthur in the beautiful canton of Zurich. Since I was a child, I was fascinated by aviation. Every weekend, I’d head to the airport with my parents to spend some time looking at all the aircraft. In August 2010, I started my apprenticeship at the airport as a mechanic. After graduating, I first worked as a Cabin and IFE mechanic at another aircraft maintenance company. In June 2016, I joined SWISS as an IFE Engineer in the Line Maintenance.
I hope you will enjoy having me as your Instagramer of the month in September.
Andi
