The SWISS Explorer tests “Hold the booking”

My ticket to Copenhagen

My last journey was with a friend of mine. And as so often, decisions were hard to make. My friend really wanted to go to Belgrade. I preferred Copenhagen and my project manager wanted to send us to Vienna. To come to a decision, we decided to let the SWISS Facebook community make a choice and to test the swiss.com function “Hold the booking” at the same time.

On Monday I reserved two seats on a flight to each destination with the help of “Hold the booking”. Depending on the route chosen and the class traveled in, a flight can be blocked for 72 hours at a stable price. This however just works until 24 hours before the flight departures. Within the next 24 hours the community decided that we would travel to Copenhagen.

After the voting, I used my booking reference number on swiss.com to cancel my reservation for Vienna and Belgrade which was fairly easy. It must be said that you still need to pay attention, since the cancellation option is only available within the specified period. Moreover, don’t be tricked: The consideration period is always based on local time at the departure airport.

In my case, SWISS obviously paid for the flight, but having a stable price for a longer period is very convenient to make a relaxed decision on a trip. We all know that attractive flight offers are booked out quickly!
